Join in The Big Paddle Cleanup – the biggest week of British Canoeing's activism to date. Help us to protect the places we love to paddle from plastic pollution, by attending a Canoe Trail cleanup.
We want everyone to have access to blue spaces and enjoy the many benefits of being out on the water. But our waterways are in crisis. A ‘chemical cocktail’ of sewage, agricultural waste, and single-use plastic is polluting our waterways, so we want to do our part to keep our river clean.
We are in a unique position as paddlers as we can collect plastic from places others are unable to access. By taking part in a paddle cleanup you’ll be:
- Helping to minimise pollution and improve the health of our waterways
- Helping to protect wildlife
- Connecting with nature
- Enjoying the wellbeing benefits of being in blue spaces
At least 2.1 million people paddle at least once a year, so imagine the positive impact we can have if we all come together. That’s why we’re joining the whole paddling community in a week of action to help remove 1,000 sacks of litter from our inland and coastal waters.
