Canoeing on moving water or white water is the pinnacle of paddle sport allowing participants to hone their skills to have fun, improve technique and prepare for faster flowing rivers around Britain and further a field.  It is the perfect preparation for our Best of Scotland and Yukon Canoe expeditions although complete beginners can attend.

We invite you to a fun packed skills based day long Introduction to White Water ' Ride the Rapids' Courses. Whether it is for you, a complete beginner or someone who has tried it before but wants to start finessing their skills this is the perfect activity day learning how to paddle canoes in moving water. The full day course is coached by our team of expert instructors sharing knowledge and skills to tackle white water (moving water) at our purpose built venue in Bedford. The controlled venue allows a brilliant location to practice safely and learn autonomous skills under our watchful instructors.

You can work on developing your intermediate to more advanced canoe skills including;

  • Ferry gliding
  • Breaking in
  • Breaking out
  • Tandem and solo paddling Skills (assuming same household paddlers during Corona Virus)
  • Useful hints and tips
  • Effective forward paddling and driving the canoe forward
  • Trim and edge control
  • Self rescue

During Corona Virus we will require participants to self rescue which is simple in the location as a shallow shelf area downstream allows participants to stand up :). !!

Our coaching is tailored to the participants needs and based on over 180 years of combined coaching experience.

The day will start at 09.30 am and finish at 3.30pm based at our Bedford Training Facility or maybe at another location (which will be agreed in advance) or on one of our expeditions (time permitting)
