Residential Programmes

Residential Programmes for Young People and Corporate Groups with programmes of activities

Canoe Trail are delighted to be able to offer residential programmes that are tailored for your groups needs. This is part of the work that we provide for schools and young people through Inspired Life CIC and also for stag and hen parties.

For example we currently provide residential programmes for young people for the Princes Trust in partnership with the Tokko Youth Centre in Luton. We have also provided residential programmes for corporate events and programmes.

Our structured and flexible residential programmes include a wide selection of outdoor activities:

  • Canoeing and kayaking tuition, adventures and journeys
  • Stand up padlde boarding
  • Zorbing
  • Raft building and river crossings
  • Team games and problem solving
  • Bushcraft and adventure skills
  • Wild camping at our dedicated woodland site
  • Low ropes and climbing wall challenges
  • Residential courses at different rural locations
  • Archery
  • Orienteering and walking

Typically participants and groups opt for a mix and match of water and land based activities.

We work closely with local partners to provide interesting options for residential programmes including:

Chellington Church Retreat

This English Heritage converted ancient church is perched on a hill top overlooking the River Great Ouse and country park at Harrold. It offers bunk house accommodation in the old church as well as communal space, full kitchen and shower facilities.  It has internet, great space for activities including orienteering, paddling, team games, walking and of course paddling.

Clophill Eco-Lodge

Another iconic location, this time located on the Greensand’s Ridge Walk, a 45 mile walk across rural Bedfordshire with lots of  interesting and beautiful points of interest.  The site is located next to the restored Clophill Church with a viewing platform on the old tower overlooking Greensands Ridge itself. The Eco-lodges are purpose built ‘off grid’ with capacity for 4 people as a standard booking, showers, toilets and a community space.  They are an example of innovative and sustainable design.  The church restoration was funded by English Heritage

Camping at Matchstick Wood

Wild camping at its best in our stunning Matchstick  Wood. Generally groups opt for 1-2 nights at the campsite with the option to use our partners such as Chellington and Clophill as accommodation for additional nights and also to mix and match activities like a ‘Surf and Turf’ option.

Local Hotels

If you are looking for something a little bit more comfortable then we work closely with a number of the local hotels and accommodation provides in and around Bedford. We can point you in the right direction.

Our residential programmes are perfect groups and organizations looking for inspiration, team building and problem solving or some form of retreat.  To date we have provided residential programmes for:

  • Princes Trust Groups
  • Schools, scouts and youth groups
  • Professional sporting teams
  • Stag and hen parties
  • Corporate groups
  • Team Building
  • Parties and reunions
