We love stand up paddle boarding as a means of exploring rivers and coastlines. It is the fastest growing watersports for a reason coupling balance, paddling technique and lots and lots of fun. It also is great for your core stability and overall fitness. The latest development to hit the market has been the introduction of Giant XL SUP’s (Stand Up Paddle Boards).
The ‘big beastie’ as it is affectionately known can hold 8 or more paddlers on a giant inflatable board. It is great for team building activities for corporate events and also for kids parties. Canoe Trail was one of the first companies in the country to get a Giant XL SUP and this year we are adding a second board to the fleet allowing us to offer head to head racing and team games on stand up paddle boards.
Paddling the Giant SUP offers teams a similar team experience as white water rafting as paddlers need to work together to paddle forwards, turn and steer the board. What makes it fun is that the board can be a little wobbly with your team mates paddling and moving as well. Often teams start on their knees and soon are standing up paddling together.
We can use the Giant SUP’s for disability groups and also as a stable platform for relay racing on our standard SUP’s.
