Canoe Trail Are Awarded Rural Development Grant For ‘Green Adventure’

Canoe Trail are delighted to confirm that we have been awarded a rural tourism grant for ‘Green Adventure by the Beds & Hunts Claylands LEADER Rural Development Programme.  This European Funding is a solid endorsement of our work with tourism partners and youth programmes working and supporting our local community.

The ‘Green Adventure Grant’ will allow us to expand our watersports and adventure activities for local youth organisations and partners as well as our tourism business. Specifically the funding is about creating additional visitors to the Bedfordshire area as well as additional work for local people. It also takes our  tally of watersports craft over 90 which in total is over 180 seats in canoes, kayaks and SUP’s.

The grant is being used to:

  • Purchase additional Silver Birch canoes
  • Add archery to our activities
  • Add airguns to our activities
  • Enhance our glamping offer with new tepee tents, large outdoor HQ tents and a sauna
  • New 10 boat trailers to enhance our operational efficiency
  • New marketing and promotional materials
  • Three new voyagers canoes for dragon boat racing

Rich commented “ It is great to receive recognition for our role in rural tourism and green adventure programmes. From humble beginnings we have grown into one of the biggest and tailored waterports and adventure companies in the UK. This grant enables us to offer exciting new activities and also improve our efficiency”
