Bedford Invitational Open Water Swim Race

This open water swim race will offer a unique opportunity to compete in front of thousands of spectators in this community festival which celebrates Bedford's iconic River.

Race Location: MK40 3QF (The Watersports arena on Longholme Island)

Start Time: 7.15pm

Race Briefing: 6.15pm

Cost: £20 includes prizes and a tee shirt (early Bird Discount Now £15 Up to 12 midnight on Thursday 14th July 2016)

Route: The race course will run on the main river section starting at the Suspension Bridge and swimming upstream towards the main Town Bridge. Paddlers will pass through the main arch of the bridge upstream towards the buoy which is ½ mile from the start. The mile lap will consist of swimming upstream and around the top turn buoy and back to the start.

Bedford River Festival is the 3rd largest outdoor event in Europe with over 300,000 visitors. 

Terms and Conditions

  • Each competitor will be complete a race registration form online and make a payment to enter the race.
  • Any interference with other competitors, or their equipment during the race will result in disqualification
  • Failure to race the course will also result in disqualification
  • In the event of a medical condition or injury then competitors should make themselves known to the event safety team on the water.
