Family Adventure Camp packed full of outdoor activities including Bushcraft, Campfire cooking, inspirational talks by real adventurers, professional instruction, woodland cinema, canoeing, kayaking and other watersports. A fun packed weekend of adventure skills. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Paddle along the River Great Ouse from Bedford to Matchstick Wood where we will be setting up camp for the night. Along the way we will be learning new paddle skills and stopping for a lunch along the river bank. Once we arrive at Matchstick Wood we will set up camp and prepare our free range locally sourced evening meal and take part in some outdoor activities and finish the night in our woodland cinema. (campfire popcorn and smors are provided)
The next morning after breakfast you will be tackle different challenges in teams rotating around different activities, having fun but practising valuable life skills. You will be able to learn more about firelighting, shelter building, low ropes, expedition planning and just how many of you can fit on a giant SUP before a campfire lunch. Once we are all fed and watered we will jump back onto the water where we will head back to Great Barford via a weir for the extra adventurous.
The river banks and woodland are teaming with wildlife with birds of prey, herons, the occasional grass snake and flitting electric blue kingfishers, so you will get to enjoy this unique setting in the beautiful countryside.
